How Quadlance Works
Whether you're a student selling your skills or someone looking to hire, here's everything you need to know.
For Students
Sell your skills and take on real client work
Sign up with your .edu email
Create an account using your university email address. This verifies you as a real college student and builds trust with buyers.
Set up Stripe payments
Connect Stripe to accept payments through Quadlance. Paid orders can't go through until it's set up, or while Stripe has your account restricted. Free ($0) gigs don't need it.
Post a gig
Create a listing describing your service: what you offer, your experience, deliverables, and pricing. You can set a fixed price or a price range to negotiate with each buyer. Add images to showcase your work. You can edit the listing later, but its type can't change, and its terms lock while an order is in progress. Finished orders keep the terms they were placed at.
Chat with interested buyers
When someone is interested, they'll message you. Discuss project details, timeline, and scope. For price range listings, send a quote with your proposed price, which the buyer can accept or decline before purchasing. On a Help Wanted request, the poster can only hire you after you send a quote and they accept it. If the request has a fixed price, your quote is that price.
Deliver the work and get paid
Once hired, complete the work within 14 days. When the buyer is satisfied (or hasn't responded within 3 days of your delivery), the full amount is sent to your Stripe account, then on to your bank on Stripe's payout schedule (no platform fee while Quadlance is new).
Students can also hire! Post a request for help or browse other students' offers. When you find someone, hire and pay them right from the conversation. On your own request, the student sends a quote first, and you accept it before hiring.
Never miss an opportunity. Subscribe to category alerts in Settings to get notified by email whenever someone posts a new help-wanted listing in categories you're interested in.
For Clients (Buyers)
Hire talented students for your projects
Sign up with any email
Create a free account. You don't need a .edu email to hire students. Anyone can browse and buy.
Browse and find talent
Search listings by category, price, and type. Read descriptions and check seller ratings and reviews.
Message the seller
We recommend messaging the student before purchasing to discuss your specific needs and make sure it's a good fit.
Hire & pay securely
When ready, click 'Hire & Pay' (or 'Hire' for free listings). For price range listings, and for any Help Wanted request you posted, the student sends you a quote first. Accept it, then pay the quoted amount. The listing is held for you for about 30 minutes while you finish on Stripe's page, and going back cancels the checkout. Your card is charged at checkout, and Quadlance holds the payment until you're satisfied. Free listings start right away with no charge.
Release payment when satisfied
Review the delivered work within 3 days. When you're happy, release the payment from your dashboard, or ask for a revision if something needs to change. Once a paid order is complete, you can leave a review for the seller.
You can also post requests! Clients can post request listings describing what they need help with. Students will see your request and reach out if they can help. To hire one, accept the quote they send, even on a fixed-price or free request. A request hires one student; to hire someone else too, post another request.
How Payments Work
Secure payment protection for both sides
Buyer pays
CHECKOUTThe buyer's card is charged at checkout. The seller isn't paid yet.
Quadlance holds the payment
HELDThe payment waits in Quadlance's Stripe account. The seller is notified and begins work.
Buyer releases payment
COMPLETEDOnce satisfied, the buyer releases payment from their dashboard. The seller receives the full amount, with no platform fee.
Deadlines: The seller has 14 days to deliver. After a delivery, the buyer has 3 days to release payment, ask for a revision or open a dispute. If they do none of these, the payment goes to the seller automatically, unless Quadlance has paused the order to review it. If nothing is delivered within 14 days, the buyer is refunded in full. A countdown is always visible in the order status.
Disputes: If something goes wrong, the buyer can open a dispute, and Quadlance can open one too. All payment actions and deadlines are frozen while our team reviews and resolves it fairly.
Cancelling: The buyer can cancel from their dashboard for a full refund until the seller submits a delivery. Refunds take 5–10 business days to appear. After that, including after a revision request, the buyer releases payment, asks for a revision, or opens a dispute instead.
Quotes & price ranges: Listings with a price range, and every Help Wanted request, need a quote before checkout. The student sends a quote in the message thread, the buyer accepts, and then pays the agreed amount. On a fixed-price or free request, the quote is the posted price. Only the newest quote counts, and editing a listing's title, description, category or price expires its unused quotes. The rest of the payment flow works the same.
Free listings: Listings priced at $0 skip payment. The order still goes through delivery and acceptance like a paid one, with the same deadlines: if nothing is delivered within 14 days the order is cancelled, and a delivery the buyer doesn't answer within 3 days is marked complete. Free orders stay in both dashboards but aren't verified, so they can't be reviewed and don't show on profiles.
Order Tracking
How delivery and revisions work
Seller delivers work
DELIVEREDWhen the work is done, the seller submits a delivery with a message, and optionally a link and up to 5 files (4MB each). The buyer is notified by email.
Buyer reviews & accepts
COMPLETEDThe buyer reviews the delivery. If satisfied, they release the payment, which completes the order.
Or requests a revision
REVISIONIf something needs adjusting, the buyer can request a revision with a note. Up to 3 revisions per order.
Auto-release after delivery: If the buyer doesn't respond within 3 days of a delivery, payment is released to the seller automatically. If the seller doesn't deliver within 14 days, the buyer is refunded in full instead.
Revisions: Buyers can request up to 3 revisions. After each request the seller has 3 days to re-deliver, or until the original 14-day deadline if that's later. If they don't, the order becomes a dispute and Quadlance decides the outcome. After 3 revisions, buyers can still release payment or open a dispute if the work isn't satisfactory.
